 Hello!

I have a question. My Joomla site is very old but updated! Almost 14 years of hard work.
I have got 1200+ url's. I have updated the site and made th url's better manually (Met tags Tags Totles0. Lots of work!
Througout the years I made a lot of changes...

I Also changed url's and used 301's. Shorter, better fort SEO.

I only used Joomla no other sef plugins. So the importer plugin /optiondoes not apply fo rme?
But I read about importing stuff, is that for me?? :-)

What is the best way and in which order should i act /use your product?

To set up Testenvironment is the best?
Can I export the original sitemap urls? And import them in Joomla with your SH404 sefcomponent?
How do i do that with the list of 301's? Also about 50 301's?

1200 urls's total
Most Important Best 50?
I saved My top 50 urls from Google Analytics. Can I checj each and every urls, to make sure i do not loose Google positions?
Can i go in and check them before I move the site to production?

Check 404
I assume that i need a lot of time to check every other hour the 404 and redirect them/change the urls?

I need all the help I can get from you experts! Thankx in Advance Arnoud / Netherlands

Hi Arnould,

Nope, those are for other SEF extensions.

If you created meta data from Joomla, they will stay the same. URLs might be different though so you may need to change settings in sh404SEF config to achieve identical or very similar URLs. Important question is here: what type of content do you have? Joomla articles? K2? Virtuemart? FlexContent?....

To set up Testenvironment is the best?
Yes. You do not want to do any change on your live site first. Any significant change has to be done on a copy of the site and fully tested, whether sh404SEF or any other change or big update.

Can I export the original sitemap urls? And import them in Joomla with your SH404 sefcomponent?
The sitemap won't help at all, as it only contains the SEF URLs but does not tell what's the equivalent non-SEF URL, the internal URL that Joomla actually uses.

How do i do that with the list of 301's? Also about 50 301's?
Depends. If you only have 50, it's probably not worth going through import. LIkely faster to create them again, especially if there are some patterns in them as sh404SEF can have generic redirect rules that redirects many URLs with just one rule.

You should indeed test everything before going to production. For instance run a sitemap tool and check that URLs are the same.

Check 404

I assume that i need a lot of time to check every other hour the 404 and redirect them/change the urls?
You can check the 404 logs on a regular basis but if the URLs are the same, there should not be any that require work, only the usual bots and spam 404s which do not require any work or redirect.

Maybe best would be to start by stating what you want to achieve? what do you want to add to your site or to your process?
Then next is to provide full and real URLs for your site, live and test copy and tell us which differences you see and what problem you face and we can help you through.

Best regards
