 Hello,

I purchased a subscription for sh404SEF and duly installed it. I noticed some rather odd changes to my, already SEF URLs and also had some problems with an unrelated plugin (OSMap) so I performed a site restoration using Akeeba Backup.

After reinstalling sh404SEF I then got a problem with the error "sh404SEF requires the shLib system plugin to be enabled, but you appear to have disabled it".

I am now unable to access any part of my backend Admin panel using the top menu bar. It is totally unresponsive.

If I do another restoration can you please tell me how to completely remove all traces of sh4040SEF?

I have full sftp access as well as access to the php database. However, please assume I am a relative novice with any advice you may offer.

Many thanks

Mike

Hi

. I noticed some rather odd changes to my, already SEF URLs and also had some problems with an unrelated plugin (OSMap) so I performed a site restoration using Akeeba Backup

So first, in case that sort of things happens again, you can just go to sh404SEF control panel and set "Enable URL optimization" to "No". This will entirely disable sh404SEF. You can do the same for most Joomla extensions in some way or another, there's no need to conduct a site restore for this kind of initial setup hiccups.

After reinstalling sh404SEF I then got a problem with the error "sh404SEF requires the shLib system plugin to be enabled, but you appear to have disabled it".
This is coming from the restoration. Some parts of the database are not in sync and sh404SEF is not fully installed.

The first thing to do is not to remove any traces of sh404SEF but instead to install it back. Just download a fresh copy and install over. This should install back the missing parts.

Now depending on what type of restore and when the backup was taken, this may not be enough to also install back the shLIb library, the missing part. Ie: you may still have that "shLib is missing" bit even after reinstalling. If that happens, please download the shLib plugin alone[xxxx] from this online folder[/url] and install it through the Joomla installer.

That should fix it. If not, please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterward, but it must have superuser level.

Thanks and regards

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I will still have to do another restore of my site since, as mentioned above "I am now unable to access any part of my backend Admin panel using the top menu bar. It is totally unresponsive" so I can't reinstall sh404SEF or the missing shLib plugin.

Thanks for the link to the missing plugin. I'll work through the fix slowly again over the next few days.

Best wishes for now.

How and what are you restoring from? Do you restore juste the database or just the files or both?

- If you restore the site to a date before you installed sh404SEF, and restore it fully, then installing again sh404SEF should not cause any such issue.

That's not something the "ShLib is missing" plugin could cause, it's only a message displayed. So maybe the restore broke other things.

One thing I can mention however is that even if you the top bar is not working (that indicates a javascript error), you can still access all your Joomla by typing a URL in the browser admin bar, for instance

https://example.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_sh404SEF

to access sh404SEF or

https://example.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_installer

to access the installer. This may help.

Thanks again Yannick

Those tips should prove very useful in future but sadly neither direct link allows me to either access the sh404SEF plugin nor the installer.

I have a full backup using Akeeba Backup (which has worked well in the past) and would be restoring both files and database from before I installed your plugin. The backup files have been copied from my server to HD and off-site.

I suspect that the best, and cleanest, method will be to delete all files and database before doing the full restore and starting from fresh.

Best wishes

Mike

I know Akeeba restore will let you erase existing database data so that should be OK. I don't remember if it also clears the files. Deleting everything is of course the safest.

I will leave this ticket open in case you need to add something. It will automatically close in 2 weeks if no further comment is made.
