hello, I have a problem, I installed the SH404 that i use for many years , but the site slows down a lot when I enable it. This slowdown only get in frontend and not in the backend .... I use joomla 2.5 and virtuemart 2.6.17. He is currently disabled because it was not possible to use it

my website is www.xxxx.com

Hi

Indeed, sh404SEF will add some load to the database, especially on pages with many links on the same page. That's common with ECommerce, where you can have many products and many links on the same page. Usually, we're talking about 5 to 20% overhead on the page construction time.

Can you clarify: you said "You use for many years". Do you mean you had sh404SEF on that site for many years, and you just installed a new version?
Or do you mean you did not have sh404SEF before on that site, and you installed it now?

Be careful if you do that, because sh404SEF will possibly change urls from Joomla SEF, and you may have 404 pages

hi thanks for your fast reply .. i use sh404 of a lot time.. i have 2 website one vith VM1 and it work prefectly , and one with VM2... before i no can use on VM2 because many error on category virtuemart but i have see in change-log that you have solve in thin new realse and now i have try ... finally problem on category VM2 solved (only now an little bug in vm account , when an consumer need to change profile for example street or city in principal address, if you click on "salve" button it no salve and obtain only an strange redirect on homepage , maybe tou can solve in in new relase...) for the speed page i have only solved turn on the conservative cache on setting joomla but, you know, for the VM no is the good solution use the cache ...

One thing to keep in mind: what's really slow is creating the SEF urls. When they are in the database, it's much faster, so the initial page loads might be slow, but then it becomes faster.

For the "change profile" issue, I first need to know if the problem is in sh404SEF or Virtuemart. For that I would need a full (akeeba) bakup of the site, so I can test and debug locally. Is that possible?

login : xxxx
pass: xxxx

go directly in "gestione account" you can show the data info ... try to modify name or address and "save" ...

No, that doesn't mean the problem is caused by sh404SEF. Only that it appears when sh404SEF is enabled.

I just went and modified the address (to "Modified by Weeblr"). I didn't have any javascript error showing in the console, but the address didn't change. Now this may be normal depending on your caching. Also, I noticed you have JCHOptimized. Have you tried disabling that for a short time?

Testing on the site is nice, but there is nothing I can do on the site to understand the problem. I have to step through the PHP code to see which extension is causing the problem and what needs to be done to fix it.

If it's exactly the same site yes. But I tried to simply log in on the front end, and I got a 500 Server INternal error. Is it expected?

Hi,

I spent nearly two hours debugging, but I think I found the source of the problem. As before, it's due to the way VM non-sef urls are built, and I have to make exceptions for everything, so I was missing an exception for the user registration page.

Please test this test release 4.4.9.2416 available at https://copy.com/xxxx

If it doesn't work right away, be sure to clear caches. If it still doesn't work, it might be required to delete a couple of urls in the sh404SEF database, so please talk to me before you do that.
Better try on a test site if possible.
