 Hi,

I have setup sh404sef for our site. The site is multilingual, although the only active language now is Dutch. I think I've setup everything correct. Though I seem to have a duplicate Dutch homepage:

https://sitename.nl/nl
https://sitename.nl/nl/

Neither of these are present in sh404sef' SEF overview page. Did I make a mistake somewhere?

Best regards,

Joep

Hi

If those URLs are not in the database, it usually means they are not produced by sh404SEF. For the default language home page, you should have /nl/.
I would expect the no-trailing slash URL is hardcoded somewhere, either in your template or in some content.

Can't say much more without seeing the site.

Thank you for your quick reply.

url: https://www.xxxx.nl

(I haven't translated the site into English yet. Therefore there is a 302 redirect in .htaccess to the Dutch page in place.)

In case you need access to the backend I have created a superuser account for you.

Backend: xxxx

Forgot to mention:

When entering xxxx.nl in the browser you end up at www.xxxx.nl/nl/

When entering xxxx.nl/nl in the browser you end up at www.xxxx.nl/nl

Hi

When entering xxxx.nl in the browser you end up at www.xxxx.nl/nl/
Yes, most of the times, your web server (apache, nginx) is doing this.

OK, the only place where I can see the https://www.xxxx.nl is on your logo, and that is most likely the source of the problem: find where your logo link is created, and you'll be able to fix that link.

Ok, I've changed the logo link to www.xxxx.nl/nl/ but the problem is not gone. You still can go to www.xxxx.nl/nl without the trailing slash.

Hi

You still can go to www.xxxx.nl/nl without the trailing slash
Yep, that's totally possible, because the Joomla language filter (which is the one adding the language code, doesn't really care about that sort of SEO details.

Fortunately we do, and that's why we add a canonical to the home page, pointing at www.xxxx.nl/
