 Hi,
My website, xxxx.com usees Kunena Forrum. I have noticed that some SEF URLs that is related to Kunena contain "/topics/mode-topics/catid-...", they don't look like SEF URL and all of them seem to be "Recent Topic" page. I wonder what are these URLs, and wonder if there is a way to stop creating more of them.

Hi

What is the non-sef URL associated with one of those URLs?

Two examples:
index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=223&catid=169&lang=en&layout=default&mode=topics&view=topics
index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=223&catid=170&lang=en&layout=default&mode=topics&view=topics

Hi

It's better to stick to only one example, but we need the SEF to go with it.

Also, you said these seems to be coming from the recent topics module? what are the SEF and non-SEF for the exact same topic then (from another location than the Recent topics module)?

These are a pair,
SEF: activities-friends/topics/mode-topics/catid-170
Non SEF: index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=223&catid=170&lang=en&layout=default&mode=topics&view=topics

Recent topic's SEF and non SEF.
SEF: Activities-Friends/recent-posts
Non SEF:index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=225&lang=en&mode=replies&view=topics

Recent topic's SEF and non SEF.

SEF: Activities-Friends/recent-posts

Non SEF:index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=225&lang=en&mode=replies&view=topics
But you said the ones from the "Recent topics" page were the ones with "topics/mode-topics/catid-170"?? confused.

What seems different is the Itemid. Do you know what menu items are 225 and 223?

I am still confused as to where those URLs are seen. Can I access the site? do you have credentials I can use?

Hi

Sorry, I browsed a few pages on the forum, including the Recent posts page (reached from the menu) but I could not see any of those URLs. Where can they be found?

I see them in the backend, under sh404 >SEF URLs, see attached screen shot. I originally found them when I used 404 requests.

Ah ok, that's different then, and not much of a problem I think. Because we record any URL in the database, you get to see all URLs extensions and Joomla request to create. Some of them might even be created by external requests for (invalid) non-sef URLs (by crawlers, or attempted attacks). It makes sense those were 404s actually.

I would make sure that "301 redirect from non-sef to SEF" is OFF under the "Advanced" tab of sh404SEF configuration, this may be the source of creating URLs.

What setting do you have for Kunena under the "By components" tab of configuration?

"301 redirect from non-sef to SEF" is NO and under kunena "by components", the setting is "use default handler".... same as all other components.
I noticed that these strange URLs keep multiplying last 24 hours, more than 200 of them now, should I just delete them? Will these URLs stay in my database?

Hi

I noticed that these strange URLs keep multiplying last 24 hours,
did you recently updated Kunena? added a module or some features?

should I just delete them? Will these URLs stay in my database?
You can certainly delete them, but if Kunena recreates the non-sef they will come back (sh404SEF doesn't create URLs, it only turns them from non-sef to SEF. But that's a good test anyway, and you can't break anything.
If they stay in the database, and unless they turn into thousands of such URLs, that won't hurt either.

Yes, I have changed many of Kunena category names, so SEF URL names have changed though non SEF URLs are not changed.

Hi

Yes, I have changed many of Kunena category names, so SEF URL names have changed though non SEF URLs are not changed.
That can cause some trouble. When you change categories or post names, the old SEF is still in the database (and rightly so, we don't want URLs to change).

So maybe it's only new links to items in those categories that cause a problem? I don't know. But indeed, I would suggest to delete them and seeif, when and how they come back.
