When i create a Custom url in the sef list i get some trouble.
It creates the custom url correct and makes a Alias for the old url in the new ones alias list. But the problem comes after some time because the old url turns up in the sef list again.
When i then wanna edit the new custom url with e.g. Meta and click save. Then i get a Error that says "Alias is already a alias or a sef url" and then it deletes the Alias in the new url.

Old url :
www.xxxx.de/de/test-test

New url :
www.xxxx.de/de/test

That error message/ deleting of the alias should not be there or, the best the old url (www.xxxx.de/de/test-test) should not turn up in the SEF list anymore.

Hi

Yes, Joomla keeps creating duplicate URLs for the same page, and so we record and show them. If you want to manually customize a URL for which Joomla creates duplicates, you have to customize them all.

Then i get a Error that says "Alias is already a alias or a sef url" and then it deletes the Alias in the new url.
That's OK, it only means an alias has not been created (because there is already one).

I just tested again.

When i make the custom url

Old url :
www.xxxx.de/de/test-test
New url :
www.xxxx.de/de/test

The the old url disapears in the sef ist and it is a Alias on the new url. After some time the old url comes in the list (OK) and on the site it redirects from old > new url correct.

But when i edit and save the new custom url i get the error and it deletes the old url Alias. Now the old url is active on the site and do not redirect > new url.

So the problem is that the check is made for both a excisting Alias or SEF url = error. It should only be a check if = excisting Alias.

Hi

But when i edit and save the new custom url i get the error and it deletes the old url Alias. Now the old url is active on the site and do not redirect > new url.
And that's fine, as explained above.

I can not see why thats okay because then there is not a Alias for the old url anymore?

Lets say Google has indexed old url = www.xxxx.de/de/test-test

I wanna change the url to new url = www.xxxx.de/de/test

I make the custom url OK. After some time i make the Edit and get the error and it deletes the Alias.

Now Google has 2 duplicate urls to index because old url = www.xxxx.de/de/test-test is now an active url again.

That is duplicate content and the old url will never get removed because it's not redirected.

I have never seen that (and I can't reproduce). I'm not sure we are talking about the same procedure. There should not be any alias created if there are duplicates, up until there is only one URL left, in which case the alias is created when you customize that URL. The reason is that if there is a duplicate, then it should be reachable, and we do not want to do a redirect.
Are you using sh404SEF 4.8.0? maybe some of those aliases were created with older versions, when we didn't check for that situation?
