Hello, I've installed sh404sef on www.xxxx.it. I'm not able to let work the 404 error message.
When I load a page: http://www.xxxx.it/it/sdjklsdjsdjklsdajklsda give me an error 500 instead of the message I've written in configuration panel of sh404sef.
I remember that sometime ago I had a similar problem and it was an interference with jsitemap, but I don't know how did you resolve.

Can you help me?

grazie, Alessandro

Hi

An error 500 means that a PHP error is happening on your site (and that Joomla is hiding it so that visitors don't see it). You should go to Joomla configuration, and set "Error reporting" to "maximum". This will cause Joomla to display errors. Then go back and try showing a 404 page, you should now have an error page.

There has been issues in Joomla regarding this in the last versions. Be sure to have both the latest Joomla and sh404SEF versions running on your site.

Hi

You had modified the sh404SEF error page default settings, and this was causing an error in your template.

Here are the default settings and they seem to work fine:

THe initial display was not correct, because the error page displays with the home page Itemid, which in your case is also highjacked by the template to remove the content. I just selected another Itemid, from a regular page:
