 Hi,

today I bought sh404SEF component and install it on my joomla website...After I enable the component some links become 404 and component redirect me to a homepage..These link are from my hidden joomla menu..So I uninstall the component because this links are very important to me..
Is it possible to fix that?

Hi

Well not with so little information.

1 - you do not need to uninstall anything. There's a main on/off button on the control panel. Just set 'Enable URL optimization" to No, and sh404SEF will be disabled entirely.

Of course we cannot provide any support or even idea about what's going on if the extension is not installed.

2 -
After I enable the component some links become 404
Which link exactly? We need a full and exact link that show this behavior.

3 -
component redirect me to a homepage.
Do you really mean a redirect? a redirect is when you type mysite.com/some-page in the browser bar, and then the browser address changes to mysite.com.
Or is it just that you see modules that make it looks like the home page, but in reality you're on the right page (ie: the URL in the browser bar is stil mysite.com/some-page?

Ok, I installed component again and set 'Enable URL optimization" to No.

Here is a domain http://www.xxxx.hr/ and here is a links that become 404 http://www.xxxx.hr/izrada-estriha-rijeka, http://www.xxxx.hr/izrada-glazure..

When I click that links, in browser title I get this message: The page you requested was not found on our site and yes I see modules that make it looks like the home page, but in reality I am on the right page (ie: the URL in the browser bar is stil mysite.com/some-page..(http://www.xxxx.hr/izrada-estriha-rijeka).

Here is a super user account for you:
username: xxxx
password: xxxx

And I need to tell you this two links (menu item): http://www.xxxx.hr/izrada-estriha-rijeka, http://www.xxxx.hr/izrada-glazure are located in hidden menu called "Usluge" and I created google adwords campaign for that two links so I must deactivate the sh404sef component because of the above problems.

Hi

OK, things are clear now.

sh404SEF stricly do NOT use menu items to create links. This is the main source of Joomla duplicate content SEO issues, and one of the main reason sh404SEF exists.

So if you have a link (in your hidden menu) that are never displayed anywhere on your site, Joomla don't see them and don't pass them to sh404SEF for storing in the database.

In other words, just creating one or more menu item doesn't create a URL (with Joomla it does, and that's an SEO problem).

What you need to do is to create the URL in the URL manager:

- click on the "New" button in the tool bar of the URL manager
- as the SEF URL, enter, for instance, izrada-estriha-rijeka
(see tooltips of details of format: no trailing slash needed)
- as the non-sef URL, enter index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=xxx

The non-sef URL is the one you use when creating the hidden menu item. It's displayed in the menu item itself. Be sure to also include the menu item ID as well to the non-sef:

index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=xxx&Itemid=yy

yy being the id of the menu item in question.

As for looking like being on the home page:

- because of the above, the URL izrada-estriha-rijeka doesn't exist in the database, so a 404 is triggered and displayed by sh404SEF.
- by default, the 404 error page is displayed using the home page Itemid
- you can select another Itemid (menu item) to use to display the 404 error page under the "Error page" tab of sh404SEF configuration.
- just pick a menu item that has the module assigned to it as you like.
