I have the following version installed: sh404SEF 4.7.2.3180

Problem is with the 404 page, I cannot seem to get one.
I have the option enabled that Joomla should use the SH404SEF 404 page.
Also I have enabled the option that it should automatic look for other similar pages in case of bad link, this is working. And also with the message at the bottom. But when it cannot find an alternative page is should still show the 404 error page right?

When I disable that option there are still no 404 pages. What happens is that it goes to the home page, and the browser title shows "cannot find link". I just want the site the show the 404 page that I created in the SH404SEF component. How can I do this?

Hi

I assume you mean you have enabled automatic REDIRECT to a similar page?

If yes, and if it doesn't find a similar page, it should show the default error message (or the modified text if you changed it).

What happens is that it goes to the home page, and the browser title shows "cannot find link"
Which means everything works OK.

Please see the "Itemid to use" section on this page of documentation.

sh404SEF is rendering a 404 as it should. It simply uses the home page Itemid if you haven't selected another one. You may need to select another Itemid if, for instance you home page has special modules assigned to it, or your template removes the joomla output on home page (which is fairly frequent).

Got it working! thank you. There were no artikels on the home page, so I redirected it to another page, problem solved!
