Hi
After install sh404SEF and turned on url optimization I got some site deindex from google. I also got some 404 and linked to correct address in sh404SEF. Can this have something to do with the deindex pages?
How do I remove the links that I manually put in for what I believed was 404 in sh404SEF?

Hi
The problem seems to come from redirecting 404 pages. Where can i find these redirects and delete them?

Hi

1 - I don't understand what you mean. Can we speak about one single page that has this problem?

2 - What do you mean by "deindex" in google? you lost some rankings? the page disappeared entirely? wan you provide again just one example of that?

3 - When you enable sh404SEF, some URLs will change. If they are already indexed, you must put some redirects in place so that search engines update their index. So indeed, the old page disapears, and after some time, the new URL is used. Is this what you did?

How did you create those redirects?

Hi
I try to explain from the beginning. I activate the URL optimizing, then I got many new url:s. When I activate URL optimization I got many 404 requests in sh404sef. I manually point 2-3 pages to their old url:s in sh404sef (in 404 page/view). I understand that Url optimization don’t do what I thought an turn it off.

Then I discover that 3 pages has disappear on google can’t find them and from 50-100 visit/day to zero.

1 - I don't understand what you mean. Can we speak about one single page that has this problem?

For example this page http://www.xxxx.se/bast-i-test-tvattmaskin and http://www.xxxx.se/test-av-hoerlurar/44-uncategorised/62-test-av-tradlosa-horlurar.
Each had 50-100 visit/day (is about washing machine and headphones).
The others is

2 - What do you mean by "deindex" in google? you lost some rankings? the page disappeared entirely? wan you provide again just one example of that?

Same like above. Cant washing machine find it on google and no visit.

3 - When you enable sh404SEF, some URLs will change. If they are already indexed, you must put some redirects in place so that search engines update their index. So indeed, the old page disapears, and after some time, the new URL is used. Is this what you did? Yes but then I turn off URL optimization and the 404 seems to point nowhere.

How did you create those redirects?
In the 404 reqeust section in sh404sef.

I think i has to turn delete my old changes tor url to get the sides back?

Best regards

Hi

When I activate URL optimization I got many 404 requests in sh404sef. I manually point 2-3 pages to their old url:s in sh404sef (in 404 page/view).
I don't understand this. In the 404 page/view, you cannot "point to their old URL". Their "old URLs" doesn't exist in sh404SEF so how could you "point it back"?

Please give an exact and detailed example:
1 - The old URL was xxx
2 - I clicked the XXXX button on the 404 list page (there are 2 buttons on that page for each 404 error, which one did you use?)
3 - I entered xxxxxx

I understand that Url optimization don’t do what I thought an turn it off.
How much time after you enabled it? an hour? a day? a week?

For example this page http://www.xxxx.se/bast-i-test-tvattmaskin
Right now, the page is still indexed by google:
[xxxx]

And I find it (in first position) if I google for "Bäst i test tvättmaskiner 2015".

Yes but then I turn off URL optimization and the 404 seems to point nowhere.
Well of course, you have disabled sh404SEF. It's not doing anything.
But I don't understand what you mean. If you disable URL optimization, then the URLs are back to what they were before, so why do you still have 404?

How did you create those redirects? In the 404 request section in sh404sef.

I think i has to turn delete my old changes tor url to get the sides back?
To be honest, I'm not sure I understand what sort of "redirect you did" initially. I think that maybe the source of the problem. Please answer my first questions and we'll see.

Hi
I´m not the best webpage or English, but I try to explain again.
1. I turn on URL optimization
2. I check the “404 requests manager “and some 404:s has shown.
3. I don’t remember the exact URL but it is something similar the original URL. Maybe http://www.xxxx.se/ test-tvattmaskin
4. I enter the original URL( http://www.xxxx.se/bast-i-test-tvattmaskin) in the column to the right “Enter redirect URL” (see attached picture, red mark. I used your picture because I deleted my 404 log). I’m pretty sure that It was the column to the right, but I did it fast.
5. I turn of the URL optimization 2-3 days later.
6. All pages except the two I 404 (se step 4) get back to normal. This two I lose all traffic and I must do an exact site search like you show to find it. I can’t find it at I normal keywords top 100 (before it had 7 place)
Were do the 404 in step 4 saves? Were can I delete them? In the database? Htaccess file?

Best regards

Hi

1 - sh404Sef has nothing to do with .htaccess., which is a web server thing, outside of Joomla
2 -
I enter the original URL( http://www.xxxx.se/bast-i-test-tvattmaskin) in the column to the right “Enter redirect URL” (see attached picture, red mark. I used your picture because I deleted my 404 log). I’m pretty sure that It was the column to the right,
That's not possible.
That box only accepts non-sef URLs (for example: index.php?option=com_content&id=123&view=article...). Please see the tooltip for the format requried.
So if you tried to enter a full url such as http://www.xxxx.se/bast-i-test-tvattmaskin there, this would have ended in pretty nothing, I'm not sure there's an error message for that.

So basically my understanding is that there was no redirect for this URL, which is why it was removed from index by search engine.

What you need to do is select that 404 again, and use the first button, and select a redirect target. You would absolutely need to read the documentation about doing redirects.

Hi
Thanks for your respond
1. Do it change anything that SEF URL in the Joomla core is activated?
So basically my understanding is that there was no redirect for this URL, which is why it was removed from index by search engine.
2.If i turn of the sh404SEF the URL:s will be normal and this is not the case?
3. I deleted the 404 log I hoped the should helpe before. Can I use the SEF URL manger in sh404SEF and point the SEF url to the old URL?
4.If I did I successful redirect like in the step 4 in my last post, where can I see that?
5.If I uninstall sh404SEF and install it will any possible redirect disappear?

Regards
Peter

Hi

1 - No

2 - if you set "Enable URL optimization" to No, then sh404SEF is entirely disabled and do nothing. You will get the standard Joomla SEF.

But you will not get any redirect, analytics, social tags, nothing. sh404SEF will be disabled, it is almost the same as uninstalling.

3 - Deleting the 404 log does nothing. It's only a list of 404s, it has no effect. It is only a list for your information

Can I use the SEF URL manger in sh404SEF and point the SEF url to the old URL?
If you mean "manually" customize, you can always do that.

4 -
4.If I did I successful redirect like in the step 4 in my last post, where can I see that?
There will be an "alias" on the SEF URL item. Please read the documentation about redirects.

5 - As per the documentation, no data is lost when uninstalling/installing again. Please see the documentation for installation, update and uinstalling.
