We're updating the site: www.xxxx.com. Before going online with a full new version of the site we're performing some tests on: xxxx.joomlawired.com

Our site (the new one and the old one) uses Docman for managing a large volume of documents and we had some issues with the SEF Urls generated by sh404sef for our docman's categories and we were advised by the Weeblr support team to select the option "User router.php, with menu item" in Docman's sh404SEF configuration option. You can check the conversation here: https://weeblr.com/helpdesk/sh404sef/1181-sh404sef-docman

The problem we have now is that Joomla is generating the URL's based on docman's categories aliases. The aliases are automatically created based on Docman's categories titles but as we have many categories with same title (because they represent school subjects in different spanish communities) it is adding a unique number in the alias, so in the URL.

For example, this URL:
http://xxxx.joomlawired.com/examenes-selectividad/madrid/matematicas-ii-9

This could be not a problem if in our old site (www.xxxx.com), running in Joomla 1.5 and using sh404sef too, the URLs generated by sh404SEF were not using the docman's categories aliases but the categories titles (in the older version of sh404sef we could configurate this).

So, the precedent URL was:

http://www.xxxx.com/examenes-selectividad/madrid/matematicas-ii

(no "-9")

We can't go online with our new site (xxxx.joomlawired.com) with all the docman's categories URLs modified because we have many backlinks to them and changing manually each Docman's category SEF URL is not an option because we have a lot of docman's categories, so URLs.

How could we fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Tomas

Hi

I really don't know how this can be achieved. URLs for Docman are created by the Docman router.php.
I guess writing a custom plugin for sh404SEF would also do the trick, but that's a serious undertaking as Docman is quite a large extension.

What I don't understand is why it needs to add an id to the URL. Categories may have the same alias, but if they are under different toplevel categories, they should be clearly separated and have differing URLs.

Lastly, you can always manually customize those URLs to make them exactly as you whish, so that can be a last solution. If you have too many URLs to do that work manually, you can always select your top 100 URLs, and manually customize them.
