 Hi,

We are remaking our site completely but before publishing the new site online we'd like to ensure that all the urls from the old site have its correspondance on the new one, and If it's not, create aliases for each of them.

Any idea on how could we cross check or compare the Urls from both sites and see If any URL is missing in our new site?

Thanks in advance,

Tomás

Hi

The steps I can think of are:

- collect all URLs on the site
- load them up in a spreadsheet, sort them alphabetically and search for differences
(maybe add a function to compare row by row and flag the differences).

To collect all URLs, I can see 2 options:

1 - if you have sh404SEF on both sites, you can export URLs from the URL manager. This will give you a CSV file that you can load into Excel or similar
2 - If not, you can run an sitemap maker and download a text file. You may need more work to obtain something you can compare in a spreadsheet but that can be done.
I have used http://www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp in the past, with good results because you can set up the crawling speed.

Ok, as we' re using sh404SEf on both sites we'll go for the option of exporting all URLs and comparing them on Excel.

Thanks so much!

Tomas
