Hi guys

I`ve noticed a lot of 404 errors in Google Web master. They`ve started to occur about a month ago. The urls that give these errors, when accessed, do not redirect to 404 error page but to the main domain.

Any idea?

Hi

Can you please put your questions and remarks in order and give me an example of the problem?

by analysing this I can see that some http (old pages) are not redirected to https
what does this have to do with sh404SEF? we don't do that sort of redirect

PPS: upgrading to the last sh404SEF version seams to remove SEF urls and aliases from the db ... . Strange.
After a few thousands updates, I'm pretty sure we don't.

Hi there

I`m sorry if I was chaotic.

I`ve attached a print screen of the Google Webmasters page displaying errors. Let`s take the first alias ( url ) : Dictionar/betadina-si-utilizarea-stomatologica-a-acesteia.html

When https://xxxx.ro/Dictionar/betadina-si-utilizarea-stomatologica-a-acesteia.html is accessed it is redirected to https://xxxx.ro and not to the 404 error page.

Dictionar/betadina-si-utilizarea-stomatologica-a-acesteia.html was an alias that I can not find in the database at the moment.

I`m running version 4.7.0.3065 of sh404SEF.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your time

Hi

When https://xxxx.ro/Dictionar/betadina-si-utilizarea-stomatologica-a-acesteia.html is accessed it is redirected to https://xxxx.ro and not to the 404 error page.
All your 404s are redirected to the home page, you don't have to go to the Google Console. Take a URL on your site, change a letter or 2 and you'll see that you are redirected to the home page.

sh404SEF is not involved in that. The redirect happening is a 303, sh404SEF only does 301.

Places to look:

- your .htaccess
- a joomla plugin
- maybe Joomla itself, if you have the "Force SSL" setting on, but I don't think it redirects to "Home", I have never heard any report of that at least

Hi there

I have looked at all the points suggested by you. At the end it turned out that in the sf404SEF Config at By component the first column for Jbusinessdirectory ( dev url here http://www.cmsjunkie.com/ ) was Use J! router. Once I`ve changed that to "Use default handler" all problems were gone.

I apologise again for the chaotic way of describing the problem. Thank you very much!

Best regards
Cosmin
