Hi, having an issue with a site https://www.xxxx.org in that although I've enabled sh404SEF I'm still seeing only the simpler rewritten URLs which includes the index.php part.

There used to be a "use .htaccess" setting which no longer seems to be there or has it moved?

And is the issue caused by the server or something else I've missed?

Hi

1 - Is this a J! 2.5 site?
2 - Is the "Use URL rewriting" setting of Joomla config properly set?

It's a 3.4.5 site with the latest versions of sh404SEF. When I enable the URL rewriting in the global config i get the page not found errors - possibly the site base URL?

Hi

The "index.php" setting was removed in last version because it was only a duplicate of the Joomla setting (in the past we had more operation modes, but had to remove them).

Removing /index.php/ gives you a web server error, so that means either you don't have a .htaccess (or similar for your web server), or this .htaccess doesn't suits your server configuration.

We can't help on that, as it's totally server dependant. Changing the RewriteBase tag is probably a good first step. Your hosting company is the best to help, as they have setup your server.

I also suggest disabling sh404SEF until you get your .htaccess right (just use Joomla SEF). Then you can enable it back again.

Understood, will have a play around - it's a university VPS server rather than a public webhost so they might need to do some additional config on it to get it to play ball.
