 Hello All,

I have about 55000 articles in K2 which i will be moving to native joomla com_content.

the URLs for all these articles are in the form = domain.com/category/articleID-article-title.html
Example: http://domain.com/editorials/2907-some-article-title.html

However, the plugin (JA K2 to com content migration plugin ) i'm using to move the content from k2 to com_content does not maintain/keep the k2 article IDs when moving the articles. The plugin gives all the copied articles, a new ID in com_content. Eg: http://domain.com/editorials/3107-some-article-title.html

Since all my existing URLs contain IDs, how do i make sure all the URLs continue to work after the conversion. Is there a way i can configure sh404sef to take care of this for me without having to manually redirect all the 55,000 urls? Please help

Hi

I'm sorry but I really don't see how this can be done. We can insert ID in URLs for com_content, but this will be the ID of the article, not some specific ID that would be obtained from a gigantic table establishing a correspondance between old K2 ID and new com_content ID.

I see two ways to approach your question:

- you have a custom version of JA K2 plugin made that makes sure the ID are preserved
- you add some .htaccess rules to redirect all URLs with this format
/category/NNNN-article-title.html
to the same without the NNNN numerical ID.
That should be totally doable, assuming other URLs on your site doesn't conflict with this format.
You will however incur an SEO loss as is usuall with redirecting an URL, not all ranking signals and authority is passed through a redirect.

Hope this helps

Rgds
