Hello there..

I seem to be having some issues, maybe it's me not understanding how this component is supposed to be set-up to work, your help will be kindly appreciated,

I have switched off the optimize urls because it's causing a lot of errors on the site,
is it possible to set up SH404 to maintain the same urls as i had before? this is a well indexed Hkashop store with hundreds of products.

Issue number 2 -
404 Redirects is taking to a wrong 404 page and not registering in the SH404.
for some reason when getting a 404 error, i don't get the SH404 custom error page, i see the template built-in 404 page. (is this because the optimize is off?)

example url: http://www.xxxx.il/content/%25D7%2594%25D7%2596%25D7%259E%25D7%25A0%25D7%25AA-%25D7%2593%25D7%2595%25D7%2592%25D7%259E%25D7%2599%25D7%25AA-%25D7%259B%25D7%259C%25D7%259C%25D7%2599

btw. do you offer any kind of setup service?
looking forward to hear from you,

thanks,

Joe

Hi

is this because the optimize is off?)
Totally. As explained in doc, this is a global switch and when disable it, basically it's like you don't have sh404SEF on your site. it's not doing anything at all. The only exception is security rules, which have a different on/off switch on the control panel.

We don't have resource for providing additional services, such as setup (which on top are usually pretty hard to quote as scope cannot be defined in advanced easily).

I have switched off the optimize urls because it's causing a lot of errors on the site,

is it possible to set up SH404 to maintain the same urls as i had before? this is a well indexed Hkashop store with hundreds of products.
I assume you mean 404s?
Yes, usually enabling sh404SEF will change the URLs, that's basically the point. If URLs are well indexed, it might not be a good idea to change them.

The "most" compatible setting for URLs is as follow:
- under the "By components" tab of sh404SEF configuration, on the line corresponding to "Hikashop", select:
"(use default handler") in the first drop-down and "Use router.php with menu item" in the second one.

Then Purge URLs so that new ones are created, and compare the URLs for Hikashop with what they were before. This will be as close as we can do to keeping the same URLs, while still storing them in the database.

You can also select "Use Joomla router" for Hikashop in the first drop down, and then sh404SEF will be bypassed for hikashop, and no URL stored in the DB for it. However, in such case one woudl question why bother with sh404SEF.

Rgds
