It looks like you've made some progress on a simple Virtuemart plugin, but still, when I create a menu link to a VM category page, the url contains the parent category even though I've set 'Insert Categories' to 'None' in sh404sef Configuration...Extensions...Virtuemart.

I'd like this:

http://xxxx.net/online-programs/business-skills-for-land-care-professionals-online.html

...to be written like this:

http://xxxx.net/business-skills-for-land-care-professionals-online.html

...where 'business-skills-for-land-care-professionals-online' is the only category in the url. Is that possible?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi

Well I don't know what period you're referring. I think there were some changes in the VM plugin in 4.6.0, published in July, but not in 4.7.0 released a few days ago.

You can indeed select how categories are inserted, but of course you would need to delete any relevant URLs in the URL manager if you were to change that setting to a new value.

Thanks, I think I'll rephrase my question:

I've set 'Insert Categories' to 'None' in 'sh404sef Configuration...Extensions...Virtuemart', but even after purging urls, my urls still contain the parent category 'online-programs', like this:

http://xxxx.net/online-programs/business-skills-for-land-care-professionals-online.html

Why is that?

No idea. I guess we'll have to dive in to know. Could you please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterwards, but it must have superuser level.

Thanks and regards

Hi

OK, I don't know. They may have once again changed routing. I'll have to take a backup (akeeba) and install locally to figure out why it's not creating the right URLs. I think it has to do with the fact the category is directly linked from a menu item, and vm treats that differently, but that still should be OK.

I'll try do that tomorrow morning.

That's okay - I'll just override them manually instead. Maybe this will be possible without overrides in the future. Thanks for your help today :)

Hi

Is it okay if I still take the backup? I need to understand why this is happening, otherwise things won't change.

Hi

Sorry about delay, only had time for this this morning. I looked at it a bit too quickly earlier and thought the VM plugin was not behaving as expected, but it actually does: the category selector you set to "none" is specifically meant (and described) for products views.
It doesn't apply to categories views. There are multiple reasons for that, bigger one is to keep backward compatibility with VM itself and avoid categories names collisions if categories hierarchy is not included in links (which is less likely to happen with products links).
Likewise, the solution being to manually customize URLs, that's more often a viable solutions for categories, while it's usually not doable for products.
So basically we would need a separate settings for categories views, which is something that can be done but requires quite some work for backward compat testing, and so it probably won't happen quickly.

Hi

You're welcome! Closing this ticket now, feel free to open a new one as needed. If you do so, please mention this ticket number in the new one.

If you created any superadmin account for us, be sure to delete or block it now to avoid unecessary risk in the future.
