Why are the tags showing in the rendered 404 page, instead of replacing them with the proper content? I can't figure out what needs to be fixed.

Thanks!

Hi

There are multiple possible reasons:

- the tags have been modified and they are now all uppercase instead of their original values
- the "Similar URLs" sh404SEFcore plugin has been disabled
- you run with the joomla cache system plugin on, and it's located before the sh404SEF system plugin (though you'd probably have other issues if it was so).

Here is the default values for the tags:

You asked for {%sh404SEF_404_URL%}, but despite our computers looking very hard, we could not find it. What happened ?

the link you clicked to arrive here has a typo in it
or somehow we removed that page, or gave it another name
or, quite unlikely for sure, maybe you typed it yourself and there was a little mistake ?
{sh404sefSimilarUrlsCommentStart}It's not the end of everything though : you may be interested in the following pages on our site:{sh404sefSimilarUrlsCommentEnd}

Thank you for your quick response.

- I'm not sure if someone else on our end edited the code, but I would think that it was still default text (or we would have changed the overall message). I have changed it per your sample text, none the less, with no effect.
- All sh404SEF plugins are enabled, including "Similar URLs". Note that the language tag above it is not converting properly either.
- Caching plugin is not enabled.

Updated screenshot is attached.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi

Then something is interfering. The last test to do would be to switch back to one of Joomla default templates (protostar is best for that).

I've installed the new patch from Oct. 26th, and it has resolved the issue.

Hi

We have completely changed the way the error page is rendered in that new version: the page content is no more a Joomla regular article. So whatever was interfering with it before cannot do that any longer.

Glad it's solved that way.
