 Hi,

OS: Debian Jessie
Apache version 2.4.10
Joomla! 3.4.4 Stable
sh404sef 4.6.0.2718 (updated my subscription yesterday)

For on reason or another I can't ge sh404 to work in the .htaccess mode. The only page that works properly is the homepage, all other pages give a 404 error. Because I thought that the akeeba restore might be the problem I did a fresh joomla install on the same server, but the result was still the same.

The strange thing is that if I install it on Debian Squeez with Apache 2.2 it works in minutes. Mod rewrite is enabled and all other modules which are present in the 2.2 version are also in the 2.4 version.

Any suggestions what the problem might be are more then welcome :) I am fighting for over 3 hours now :(

Thanks in advance!

This only means your .htaccess files is not working for your server.

That's not related to Joomla or sh404SEF and what you have to do is concentrate on the content of your .htaccess (I would suggest disabling sh404SEF for your testing, and only use Joomla SEF, taht way you won't have sh404SEF on your mind!)

I have never really used Apache, but I'd say if it works with 2.2 and not 2.4, then maybe a search about htaccec differences between the 2 versions is the way to go. I googled for that, and found this page:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/upgrading.html
I have noticed the bit about AllowOverrides now defaulting to false which may break your .htaccess but that's just a guess.

The other usual advice is to just go back to Joomla default .htaccess and start from there, it should work with most hosts and the comments provide useful advice.

I accidently overruled AllowOverride in Apache. It works now!

Thanks!
