Hello, I've installed last version of shs404SEF on my site www.xxxx.it. It works correctly but doesn't register the error 404.
Opening the page www.xxxx.it/dfjkldjwejkl it gives a server error instead of the error page that I've created on shs404SEF and in the control panel the page isn't registered (so I can't redirect)

Thanks for the help. Alessandro

Hi

That would be the sign that the __404__ article or the "sh404SEF custom content" category used to display sh404SEF error page have been either renamed, moved, unpublished or deleted.

There might be other reasons, but that's the most common. Have you made any of those changes?

Hi

I will have to review your site configuration then. Could you please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterwards, but it must have superuser level.

Thanks and regards

Hi,

No idea why it's not working, it should. Most likely this is an interference with another extension. I will need to take a backup of the site so that I can install locally and step through the PHP code to see where the problem comes from.

However, I tried to start a backup with Akeeba, but it failed, with an error 502. Looks like the server is slow or even not responding right now.

Another option is to update you to the latest development version, in which the 404 error page has been modified completely, but I'd rather understand what's going on on your site first.

I've created a backup removing K2 images (i think there are no problem about the text).
Maybe some set can have priority on error pages management?
You'll tell me when to try the development version to check problem solution.

Hi

Thanks, downloading now. I don't intend to try any new version before I find what's causing the problem on your site.

I will get back to you soon.

Hi

Problem was with FoxContact. You had it set as "Use Joomla router" under the "By components" tab of sh404SEF configuration, and this prevented the error page to be shown.

I set it back to "Use default handler" and saw no issues.
