I'm building a new website and this is my first time using sh404SEF. I'm developing on my local server (MAMP), then pushing live to a production server when finished.

When should I install sh404SEF? In the beginning of my development, or after the site is live on the production server? I'm mainly concerned with things like the domains changing, http to https, etc. Please advise. Thank you!

Hi

1 - I always advise to install first thing. You absolute need to test how things work with your other extensions, menu structure, etc

2 - All URLs inside managed by Joomla are (should be) created as relative non-sef links (ie: index.php?option=com_article&id=1&view=article or similar - that's how content editor create links for instance).
Then before displaying a link on the site, whether local or live, Joomla will take care of transforming this URL into the correct one, with the right domain, secure URL or not, etc

So if you create your links according to the standards, your site can be moved around from one domain to another, locally or live without any change. The changes are done dynamically by Joomla.
sh404SEF itself doesn't care what the actual domain is.
