 Re site www.xxxx.com

When using the site search the search terms are found as below;

http://www.xxxx.com/index.php/Search.html?searchphrase=all&searchword=vf-170

But all the links come back to the home page.

What can I do to fix this?

Hi

You are not sent to the home page. You are sent to the search page, and you get the search results, but the template and modules displayed are those of the home page because of duplicate links created by Joomla.

The Joomla search module has an option to select an Itemid (a menu item) to display the search results. You should use that to make Joomla use a specific menu item you choose, instead of the home page, to display it's results. Once you've selected an Itemid, delete the /Search.html page (and all duplicates) from the URL manager, so that a new one is recreated with the Itemid you selected.

Sorry is I was not clear with my enquiry.

The problem is this:

If you go to the website www.xxxx.com

And search a term in the search module which is top left say: vf-170

You are then presented with a results page as shown in original message. All good up till now.

But now if you click on one of the search result links it does not go through to the correct page but returns to the home page.

This seems to have started since implementing SH404sef.

Thanks in advance

Hi

OK, I can see it now. So if we keep talking about this vf-170 product:

- what's the normal URL?
- how can we reach that page? is there a category page for it? or a menu link or another way?
- what extension is used to create that page? is it a Joomla article? something else?

Once you have answered those questions, I'll certainly need superadmin access to check on sh404SEF config and other extensions on the site.

Lets talk about product kf16c (not sure where the other one is - client populated the store and there are thousands of products)

If you you search this term you get 3 results KF16c is the last link in the list.

It should link through to this URL:
http://www.xxxx.com/index.php/Online-Catalogue/product/1-kf16c/related_product-18.html

This page can be found by clicking: Online Catalogue / KF Range / Clamps / NW Quick Clamp - Aluminium / KF16c

We used 'Hika'Shop' to build the online catalogue so people can build order requests and send to client.

Hi

1 - Can you tell me what's special about this search module? If I disable sh404SEF and I do the same search on kf16c from the home page using the search input field, the link to the KF16C product displayed is:

http://www.xxxx.com/index.php/Online-Catalogue/product/1-kf16c/related_product-18.html?option=com_content&view=featured&Itemid=471

So it's a mixture of SEF and non-SEF and in any case it's totally wrong.

2 - If I enable Joomla SEF setting - which is the way to go as per sh404SEF documentation, but still with sh404SEF disabled, the search module gives this link:

http://www.xxxx.com/index.php/Online-Catalogue/product/1-kf16c/related_product-18.html/component/search/

Which is also very wrong and broken (you get a 404).

You don't have any caching happening here, so that's a strange behavior. I'm sure if you can find what's going on with this search module and make it with sh404SEF disabled, there wil be no problem when you enable it back.

Hi, Thanks for looking into this.

There is nothing special about the module it is a standard Joomla feature. If I set up a standard menu based search option it still finds the pages and the links still dont work.

Not sure I understand your last sentence. I am trying to resolve the issue hopefully with your help.

Thanks

Hi

What I'm saying is that the module is broken even with sh404SEF disabled!
