I'm using sh404 for my website, but it does not work well with multiple languages.
When I click on the Language Switcher, it still does not change the language and caused 404 error.
Example: I'm using vi-VN language, at home it works normally, and when switching from Vietnamese into English is also normally, but when switching from English to Vietnamese, it remains the links "/en/(vi-alias)", I see the cookie language variable is still "en-GB", and it caused 404 error
When I turn off sh404, it back to normal.

I have found the cause of the above error, it is an option in the Language Filter Plugin - Remove URL Language Code. When I turn off this option, then everything works good.
I did a little editing for this plugin and issues related to Cookie, I just sort order language with default option instead of cookies.
I hope this will be the answer to other users who have the same questions as me.

Hi

There were new issues introduced in Joomla 3.4.1 related to language switching, so we had to add more workardounds for them. We have a development version that will be released probably this weekend or monday, which should be ok also with "Remove URL language code" set to Yes (I advise that you let it on, you should probably not have language code in your default language).

It's available here: https://copy.com/xxxx
Please try it and report back here if possible. You may have to clear your cookies before trying it though.

I just installed the new version(and reverse any editing before), it works fine. I think this issue of the Joomla not Sh404.
I tried turn off SH404, then the language does not work when the user direct access by link. I think you may contact Joomla on this issue, and this problem will be solved without any updates of SH404.

Thank you very much!

Hi

That would be nice, but it's much more difficult to have a new version of Joomla than a new version of sh404SEF ;)

Thanks for you report; This version (4.4.9) will be released on monday morning.

Closing this ticket now, feel free to open a new one as needed.

And please feel free to post a review on the JED,it helps and we appreciate it!

Can I propose a new feature for sh404SEF by ticket?
The feature that I would like to propose first is Generator Button - which is used to generated SEF url instead to visit the home page and access in turn the pages, like the present.
I feel this feature is really useful for sites with many links, to avoid 404 errors occur when the link has not been generated again, but that was Google Index before.
This feature can be advanced options, because it takes a lot of server resources, I think so.

The next feature is the Sitemap, I think sh404 should integrate this feature. Because we have all the tools to manage links, integrates this feature really useful, sh404SEF will truly versatile, and will increase the ratio of users to choose sh404SEF, instead of having to buy additional extension of other vendors.

sh404SEF can make these features as Plugin, for high values of sh404SEF which also does not change the price of the original.

Thank you!

Hi

Thanks for your suggestions. Those are 2 things that I intent to build. They've been on the the road map for a long time.

Note that the Sitemap is totally not as simple as you present it. We do have a list of URLs, but maybe not all, and most importantly not all of them should be included in the sitemap. Meaning users will have to include or exclude URLs from the sitemap manually. That's not hard to do for me, but fairly labor intensive. And of course, building the sitemap itself is a very, very CPU heavy operation for large sites.

Please not that from the beginning, especially for large websites, my advice has always been the same:
Use a asitemap maker after updating your URLs. That way:
1 - All your URLs will be created automatically and quickly
2 - You get a sitemap!
