We're pleased to announce the release of 4AI version 8.2.0. This is a feature and maintenance release.Compatible with Joomla 3 to 6 without a compatibility plugin.

Here are the highlights:

• You can now decide to hide/show Chat and Images tabs in the assistant per user groups, using normal Joomla permissions, separately in frontend and backend.
• In addition to Joomla editors, the assistant will now pick up content from simple textarea or text inputs, if you focus one before opening the assistant
• Assistant now uses our latest design, already in use in the admin component
• Assistant can use a textarea or text input as source, reading and writing back raw text
• Added Show on these frontend pages and Hide on these frontend pages settings to force show or force hide the 4AI frontend assistant on other pages than the default article edit pages
• Added support for Gemini3.8-flash, 3.7-flash, 3.6-flash and 3.5-flash-lite
• Added support for OpenAI gpt-6-sol, gpt-6-luna, gpt-5.6-luna
• Drop sending temperature for most models, now deprecated or not supported at all

Here are the highlights:

• Added support for Gemini 3.1 Flash image (Nano Banana)
• Added support for Gemini 3.6 and 3.5-Flash-Lite
• Now accepting the latest Google Gemini API key format (AQ....)
• Now using a dialog element for most dialogs
• Accessibility: nav landmark elements don't have a unique identifier
• Accessibility: table header cells with no visible title should still have an indication of their content
• Missing language string for the copy cron key button
• In the tab switcher, a small layout shift when going to or from the 'When to run' tab to another

• Cannot create images when using Nano Banana, authentication error
• On mobile, cannot scroll horizontally to use the full user interface

• Added support for Google Nano Banana image model. Includes creating images and modifying them repeatedly. Also modify images available in articles, not generated with AI.
• Added support for OpenAI GPT 5.4, 5.4-mini and 5.4-nano models
• Added enforcement of deprecations for Gemini 2.0 (June 1st, 2026), 2.5 (June 17, July 22, 2026) and 2.5 image (October 2, 2026)
• Generated image preview now has a button to view image full screen
