The 4SEF dashboard

4SEF dashboard displays essentials information and may alert you about actions that needs to be taken on your site related to 4SEF operation. It is displayed whenever you open 4SEF from the Joomla Components menu.

Here is a typical view of the dashboard:

There are three main areas displayed on the dashboard, described below.

Alerts

There you'll find important alerts that may require immediate attention. Or simpler messages such as the fact you can import data from sh404SEF if 4SEF found it installed on your site.

Current status

This section has at most 3 modules:

Statistics about requests to the site

4SEF automatically records pages that are rendered through it by the site and displays this counter for the last 10 days.

Statistics accuracy

The numbers displayed are very accurate, in that each response to a page request is indeed countered. However, you should consider that numbers displayed here may not always be the best measurement of your site traffic as:

  • robots and bad actors are not distinguished from real, human visitors
  • conversely, some requests may not accurately be counted if you use server or browser caching.

Enabled status

Whether 4SEF is currently enabled and handles SEF URLs generation on the site. You can toggle it on or off right from the dashboard with immediate effect.

URLs on the site will change

As soon as 4SEF is enabled, it will generate URLs that are normally different from those coming from Joomla. That's one of the main feature of 4SEF, but you have to be aware of the change and take appropriate actions before enabling it.

Please see Enabling 4SEF for all details.

Number of URLs

This module shows the number of URLs currently managed by 4SEF, broken down between automatically created URLs and those you have manually customized from the SEF URLs page.

Top requested pages

Just like it stores the number of requests made to the website, 4SEF lists in this section the top 10 pages per number of request.

Obviously not a replacement for a full analytics solution, this can still give you a rough idea of where most of your visits are done.
