Hi
Is there an "out-of-the-box" pattern that it configures the .htaccess to create?
There's no relationship between .htaccess file and URLs, those are just 2 different things. URLs are decided upon and used by Joomla. .htaccess is a file that some web servers (not all, it's basically only for Apache servers) that can perform various actions including redirecting or modifying URLs on the fly.
How is it currently creating the SEF's I have now? I didnt alter anything. Can I find the definition of that pattern in your software so I know how it is deciding to create URLs?
There's no pattern as a general thing. First of course, "pattern" depends on the extension we're talking about.
Then each extension can have direct support for sh404SEF (ie a dedicated sh404SEF plugin) provided either by sh404SEF itself, or in reverse, support for sh404SEF can be provided by the extension itself (ie K2, the StackIdeas extension, others). So each case is specific.
For regular Joomla content, the basic rules with default settings are:
- articles: /category-level-n-1/category-level-n/article-alias
- category blog: /all/nested/categories/
- category list /table/all/nested/categories/
This URL structure can be modified by settings under the "Extensions" -> "Joomla" option.
