Hi
It used to be that K2 had direct support for sh404SEF built in but some times ago (version 2.7 I think), they took that support out and made it into a separate plugin. So full optimized support requires their plugin.
Without it, all the sh404SEF will work but sh404SEF will by default create URLs with "item" in them.
Alternatively, you can also do is set K2, under the "By component" tab of sh404SEF configuration to:
1st column: "use default handler"
2nd column: "Use router.php with menu item"
Then delete any existing K2 URL, navigate to your home page and check out the URL you get. They should be about the same as the default Joomla ones which is quite OK depending on your use.
