I don't get how this plugin works. I create an article "schools" in category "topics". Shouldnt I be able to access it via mywebsite.com/topics/schools? Instead its using /schools. I dont know how to predictably make this plugin behave as I want

Hi

Shouldnt I be able to access it via mywebsite.com/topics/schools? Instead its using /schools.

Yes, that's exactly the URL sh404SEF will create assuming:

- we are talking about regular Joomla articles and categories

- you're using the default settings

- there exists a link to that article somewhere on the site in the standard Joomla way, ie index.php?option=com_content&...

So:

- what is the full and real URL of the site?

- what happens?

Best regards

Hello yannick. When I created the article it was originally uncategorized. Then I assigned a category to it and expected the SCF URL to be /category/article-alias. However that wouldn't work, and I had to delete the internal link index for it to change. I thought it would have changed by itself without me having to delete it

Hi

I thought it would have changed by itself without me having to delete it

Nope, that won't happen any under circumstances. Because on a live site, you do not want that at any cost. Moving an article around or changing its title should never change the URL. A URL should never change basically, at least once it's been indexed by search engines and bookmarked by users.
