Hello, this refers to

 #7360: Strange image from sh404SEF?

where you already gave me an answer.

For better understanding: If I set robots tags e.g. to "index, follow" or something else, the max-... tags are not inserted? Would it then be better than, to add those tags or not?

Kind regards Meinolf Müller

Hi

Correct. If you set your own custom robots tag then the ones by sh404SEF will not delete those that you set.

Would it then be better than, to add those tags or not?

You should not set "index, follow". This is the default and there's no need to add them. And of course, if you do so, you need to set not only "index, follow" but the entire max-... tag.

You only set custom robots tag when you want something different than the default.

Hello,

I did like you suggested and everything is working correctly now with articles. But not with category lists. If category s set to global, only the new tags are added to source code, not "index, follow". If I set category to "index, follow" within Joomla, it's OK. Have I done somethoing wrong? (sh404SEF robots is empty).

Regards

M.- Müller

Hi

 not "index, follow".

Index follow should never be added. It's normal and expected they are NOT included in your pages. You only include robots tags when you want to noindex or nofollow.
