My Breadcrumb HOME link generates a 404 error.

It links to https://www.xxxx.com/https:/xxxx.com

instead of https:/xxxx.com

Why is the address repeated?

How do I fix this issue?

Thank you.

Hi

sh404SEF is not involved in displaying the breadcrumb or in computing the links displayed, this is done by Joomla breadcrumb module or in your case an override from your template (YooTheme it seems from the CSS classes):

The link inserted by the module is /https://xxxx.com, meaning the module inserts a / at the start.

1 - What is the previous version you were using when you know the link was correct?
2 - What happens if you temporarily switch to one of Joomla native templates such as Protostar? (and clear all Joomla caches)
3 - Have you anything entered in the Joomla SEF system plugin, in their settings?

Best regards

I found another instance of this issue with the Log-In form.

When I login or logout, I end up on the same 404 page:

https://www.xxxx.com/https:/xxxx.com

Very strange URL - what is generating it?

Thanks for taking a look.

I tried your suggestion but it did not fix the issue.
The only thing that fixes the issue is when I turn off sh404SEF

Hi

I did not provide any suggestion to fix as this is not coming from sh404SEF but a broken overrride. I'll nevertheless will try to find the culprit. Could you please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterward, but it must have superuser level.

Thanks and regards

Thanks for your help.

I created a redirect for the breadcrumb which seems to solve the problem, but when I log-in or log-out (frontend) the redirect goes to https://xxxx.com/https:/xxxx.com - 404 page.

superadmin credentials:

http://www.xxxx.com/administrator
username: xxxx
password: xxxx

Thanks for your help.

Hi

OK, this is happening because you filled the "Home page URL" with https://xxxx.com

This setting is for forcing the home page URL when one uses an HTML "splash" page - which fortunately are not to be seen these days.

This should not cause the issue at hand if the value was correct, unfortunately you entered https://xxxx.com instead of https://www.xxxx.com which is the real site URL and so the problem appear.

You should leave that setting empty at all time, again it's for another purpose. If you were to actually use a splash page - which you don't want to - then you would need to enter the real URL for your home page, not this one.
