 Hello,

I noticed in my source HTML <!-- sh404sef_tag_description with a long string after. What is this for? How do I remove it from my source HTML?

Thank you

Hi

This is used internally by sh404SEF to store description (there are other such tags actually) to overcome Joomla caching limitations. It should be removed automatically from your pages before they are finally displayed.

1 - What's the full and real URL of a page showing this behavior?
2 - Which type(s) of caching do you use on the site: regular Joomla caching, Joomla cache plugin, 3rd-party caching extensions, host caching (varnish, nginx), Cloudflare? others?
3 - Are "Enable URL optimization" and "Activate SEO management" (under the SEO tab of sh404SEF configuration) enabled?

Best regards

Hi Yannick,

Thanks for your help. For whatever reason, the tag is no longer displayed in my HTML. I'm not sure what changed. Perhaps something I changed in sh404sef settings, or perhaps when I pointed Joomla configuration's temp folder to a new location.

For what it's worth, I am not using any caching through Joomla, 3rd party, or server. I have enable URL optimization enabled and I have activate SEO management disabled.

I suppose you can consider this resolved. Thanks again.

Best,

Luther

Hi Luther,

Like I said, sh404SEF will remove all those tags from the page just before it's displayed. If that does not happen, what I can think of or have seen before is:

- sh404SEF is not running that deletion task (ie SEO management is disabled)
- some other extension interfere (an optimization extension can sometimes alter the tag so that when sh40SEF tries to remove it, it does not find it anymore)

I'm not sure what could cause it to not remove the tags and fix itself afterwards, that would indicate a change in the site global context.

Closing this ticket now, feel free to open a new one as needed. If you do so, please mention this ticket number in the new one.
