 Hi Weeblr

We are rebranding the site with a new domain, for now i am using Alias to redirect articles and categories to the new domain, it has the same structure. So i can say to this point is working really fine. But now i have to point the home page on the old site to the homepage of the new site for example www.xxxx.mx to xxxx.com

I cant find any option to do this on the Sef404 Panel. And not sure how to manage this using alias, can you please point me how to solve this?

Thanks in advance for your support

Hi

Can you clarify where you are trying to do this? Are www.xxxx.mx and www.xxxx.com two different Joomla installation? or do you have both domains resolving to the same Joomla installation?

Best regards

Hi Weeblr thanks for your reply.

The sites are two different joomla installations on two different domains both of them on the same server.

What i have been doing to mantain google positioning is redirecting articles and categories from xxxx.mx to xxxx.com
With certain specific articles. i am using alias like this xxxx.mx/article1example 301 alias to xxxx.com/article1example
With the categories i am using alias like this xxxx.mx/categoryexample 301 alias to xxxx.com/categoryexample
And with all the articles inside those categories i am using alias like this xxxx.mx/categoryexample/{*} 301 alias to xxxx.com/categoryexample/{*}

At this point everything is working fine, but i am stuck with the homepage, I tried to use an alias like this
{*} 301 to xxxx.com but then i loose the catergory redirection xxxx.mx/categoryexample 301 alias to xxxx.com/categoryexample
Thanks in advance for your support

Hi

What you should use is: redirect / to https://xxxx.com/ on the source joomla installation.

{*} 301 to xxxx.com but then i loose the catergory redirection xxxx.mx/categoryexample 301 alias to xxxx.com/categoryexample
I don't see why that would happen. It sounds very much like you are redirecting every URL from
xxxx.mx to the same exact URL on xxxx.com/

So redirecting:

{*}
to
https://xxxx.com/{*}

should be the only thing needed.

If of course you have reshuffled your categories/articles then you can't add a global redirect but need to look at individual items instead.

Best regards
