 Hi there,

I just installed the new sh404sef on my website, and when I look into the HTML-markup, the new meta tag (max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1) isn't inserted. Are there some settings which have to be configured?

Kind Regards,

Erwin de Wolff

Hi there,

I've digging into this and found out that:

If a URL doesn't has the robots tag filled in, so the field is empty (SH404SEF -> SEF URLS -> Click on a URL -> Title and Metatags -> Robots Tag), then the new snippet is inserted.

If a URL has the robots tag filled in, for example "index, follow", the new tag "max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1" isn't added to this sequence in the HTML markup.

Is there a way to add these 2 automaticly together?

For my site., I have defined for every URL if it is "index, follow", or "noindex, nofollow" in the Robots-Tag field

Kind Regards,

Erwin

Hi

Yes, that's exactly how it's supposed to work, the custom one always override the default one.

Is there a way to add these 2 automaticly together?

I cannot combine your custom "index, follow" and "max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1" automatically because sh404SEF cannot decide automatically if you want them combined or if you actually do not want "max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1". That's why the override (per URL) always win.

"noindex, nofollow" in the Robots-Tag field
In that case, all is fine and "max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1" is not inserted as expected.

For my site., I have defined for every URL if it is "index, follow"
There's no need for that. You should only define those where you want "noindex" or "nofollow" (sh404SEF does that automatically for some pages actually, for the Search results, it adds "noindex, follow".

"index, follow" is the default, there's no need to add it.

Best regards

Hi there,

Thanks for your answer and explanation.
Is there a easy way for all the SEF-URLS to remove the added Robots tags? For example with a database query? Or do I have to modify them all by hand?

Kind Regards,

Erwin

Hi

For example with a database query?
yes they are stored in the #__sh404sef_meta database table, under the metarobots column. Wherever this column is set to "index, follow", just set it to empty.

Best regards
