I have a Joomla web site running the latest version of sh404SEF and 3 instances of the Yootheme ZOO component. One of the ZOO instances is used for my blog (https://www.xxxx.com/blog.html). The other two instances of ZOO on my site - https://www.xxxx.com/mice-in-the-attic.html and https://www.xxxx.com/historyatrisk.html.

Under some conditions, the SEF URLs have text added afterward. For example, for my top menu, I was using a standard Joomla menu that included the blog categories. For the blog menu, I was using ZOO categories instead of the Joomla submenu. When a visitor clicked on a blog category in the top menu, it was fine, but when the visitor clicked on the ZOO category in the blog menu, they were taken to an identical page whose URL ended in "?f=1". When I deleted the blog categories in the Joomla menu, that problem was fixed.

During my investigation into the blog categories, however, I discovered that if a ZOO blog article ("item") is in two different ZOO categories, the article in the primary category has a good SEF URL, but a visitor goes to another category and clicks on that same blog article, additional text will be added to the URL, e.g., "?category_id=2". Is there a fix for this, or can I assign an article to only one category? (All articles/items are named www.xxxx.com/blog/ARTICLENAME.html, so the category isn't part of the SEF URL.)

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi

Is there a fix for this,
I don't think that's a problem and that it needs fixing. That's just how Zoo decided to implement their URLs when an item is in 2 categories.

can I assign an article to only one category
Well, that's a choice you make with your content: if you want your content to appear in 2 categories then you should do it. If you do that, then that item should have 2 different URLs depending on which category is being used on the current page. Zoo seemingly elected to add a parameter to distinguish between both "versions" of the item.

(All articles/items are named www.xxxx.com/blog/ARTICLENAME.html, so the category isn't part of the SEF URL.)
That's not something sh404SEF would have an impact on. We have no specific support for Zoo so there's no setting or configuration on how to build ZOO URLs, except if Zooitseslf has some.

Best regards
