 Hi,

I have just bought sh404SEF and want to configure it and enable it.

The thing is I have my website on temporary domain (folder on my server) and I am going to move the website to target domain after the website is done.

Will I have any problems or will there be any need of make changes if I enable sh404SEF now?

Kind regards,
Konrabi

Hi

sh404SEF is not concerned with the domain your site is on. We only build the part of the URLs that comes after the domain. Joomla also does not really care about that as it does not put the domain in URLs.

The only thing you need to pay attention to can be:

- your .htaccess file: it can be different from one server to another
- when you create links yourself - in your articles for instance - to other pages of your site, you should never include the domain in the links. The standard and recommended way of creating links is by using the non-sef version of URLs such as:

index.php?option=com_conten&view=article&id=12&Itemid=34

If you use these links, Joomla (and sh404SEF) will convert them automatically to SEF and you will be able to move your site from one domain to another without any issue. If you "hardcode" domains in your links, as in: https://mysite.com/my-page.html, you will have to redo the links each time you change domain.

Best regards
