Hello,
I'm trying to set up sh404. I edited the htaccess.txt in .htaccess. I activated sh404 in the settings: "Enable URL optimization"
yes
Enable remote configuration
yes
Enable security functions "

If I understand correctly, I must also change the configuration of joomla rewriting urls. But when I put this parameter on "yes", only the home page works ....
What should I do?

Hi,

I'm trying to set up sh404. I edited the htaccess.txt in .htaccess. I activated sh404 in the settings: "Enable URL optimization"

As mentioned on the pre-sale forum, this issue is not related to sh404SEF. It's coming from your .htaccess file not being correct for your server. Each server may require a different .htaccess content, although most will be fine with Joomla's default .htaccess.

So the steps are:

1 - DISABLE sh404SEF by setting "Enable URL optimization" to No. The problem is not coming from it, so jut disable it
2 - Go to Joomla global configuration and enable SEF URLs:

3 - Go to the front end: only your home page should work and the other pages should give you 404s or 500 errors
4 - Talk to your hosting company and ask advice on which .htaccess file to use with Joomla until the problem is solved.
5 - Enable back sh404SEF

NOTE: Joomla can only work without a .htaccess file, using this configuration:

If you select this configuration (Use URL rewriting -> No) then you can enable URLs will work immediately BUT they will have an additional /index.php/ in them like so:

www.example.com/index.php/my-page

If your hosting company does not help you with your .htaccess, this is always something you can do. However the URLs are not as nice and short as they can be.
