 Hello,

I have a problem with SH404: I entered it in a Joomla 3 site and this thing happens: in the SEPARATOR menu called CATEGORY which contains submenus CATEGORY BLOG, it groups a category, for example CATEGORY A, CATEGORY B, CATEGORY C, ETC.

When I look for the menu I access CATEGORY A, in the url I see www.mysite.com/category/ and I visualize in the site correctly the articles of the CATEGORY A.

When, however, I access CATEGORY B, CATEGORY C, etc. from the menu. I continue to see the articles of CATEGORY A and in the url www.mysite.com/category/.

If I deactivate SH404 the menus are correct.

What could be the problem?

Thank you!

Hi

1 - Please always provide full and real URLs to the pages you are talking about. Not much can be done without that.

2- I do not understand your menu setup, please be more descriptive:

When, however, I access CATEGORY B, CATEGORY C, etc. from the menu
What menu types are you using? those 3 menus will be different if they are just links to different categories

Again we cannot discuss much without the full and real URLs. Be sure to mention both the SEF URL and the non-sef URLs you see the sh404SEF SEF URL manager. What you do in the Joomla menu does not matter, sh404SEF does not use menu items to build URLs (unless you changed default settings).

Best regards

Ok.
The site is in a test folder not accessible, however the situation is this, where "primula" is the folder that contains the site:
URL: www.mysite.com/primula/
Menu item separator: "Attività"
Submenu: "2019", "2018"

Click on "2019" ("blog category" menu: category "2019")
URL: www.mysite.com/primula/le-attivita-primula/
("le-attivita-primula" = alias main category)
The page correctly displays the preview of the items contained in the "2019" category.

Click on "2018" ("blog category" menu: category "2018")
URL: www.mysite.com/primula/le-attivita-primula/
The page continues to preview the items contained in the "2019" category.

To be honest, I actually believe that the problem depends on an intervention in the configuration I made.
But I don't understand which one!

I hope I have clearly explained the situation, thanks.

Hi

ok, first and again: menu items do not matter, we do not use them. It makes no difference that a link is in a menu item or another, that's not just used for building URLs.

So what matters is your content organization and this is what you need to explain.

What I see here from the description above is:

You have 2 different categories "2019" and "2018". They are sub categories of a main category called "Le attivita primula". Is this correct?

If this is correct then maybe what you did is force sh404SEF to use only the top category in category links. So instead of creating links such as /le-attivita-primula/2019 and /le-attivita-primula/2018, you told it to only create links with the top category, ie /le-attivita-primula and so the 2 different categories get the same URL - which is what's happening here.

You may have done that by changing the default values in the "Show cat in categories link" option:

Make sure this is set to "Last 2". Then go to the SEF URL manager, use the Purge button to delete all existing URLs then visit your site home page so that new URLs are rebuilt using the new settings.

Best regards
