I tried to manually shorten the url:
https://www.xxxx.com/index.php?option=com_osmap&view=html&id=1

It was shortened to:
https://www.xxxx.com/xd

The shortened url is not working. So I have not replaced it. The url is for the 'Site Map' link in the footer. I have turned on 'Data Recording'. Why doesn't the short url work?

I tried to manually shorten the url:

Do you really mean "URL shorteting"? ie using "shURL" in sh404SEF?

You should not shorten this URL, it's a non-SEF, internal one.

Instead:

- delete whatever you did to shorten that URL
- create a custom URL:
- Click the New button on the SEF URL manager
- enter, for instance, sitemap as the SEF URL
- enter index.php?option=com_osmap&view=html&id=1 as the non-SEF

After saving, the sitemap will be accessed at https://www.xxxx.com/sitemap.
