In the sh404sef there is an option to add alt tags to short URLs, I have disabled it.

Hi

ah, I see: "Insert Alt. shorter tag".

Anyway, that seems to be a bug in Powersuite. For instance I tested the first link, https://www.xxxx.com/wx98, and it works fine: it redirects to https://www.xxxx.com/noticias/alarma/Page-13.html.

Either there was a temporary issue (DNS) when they tried, or something similar.

Yes, It seems like a bug in SEO PowerSuite.

But honestly I didn't have found an utility for this feature "Insert Alt. shorter tag". What is the goal of this options?

Hi

When you create a short URL for a page (for instance https://weeblr.com/qxh is the shURL for the sh404SEF changelog page: https://weeblr.com/documentation/products.sh404sef/4/changelog/index.html), you can include the shURL in a tag inside the page, so that sites, search engines, etc know that there is a short URL for that page.

There is no standard to include this shURL link, but there are several common syntax and "Alt.' tag is one of them.

Thanks, yes I have understood the concept. But for example when you use apps like Hootsuite they could take the short URL generated by sh404sef to make the post in the social networks?

Hi

Yes, although I have no idea which app uses short urls like read from the page itself.

Thanks I will investigate, because it doesn't works using Zoho Social. Due this reason I decided disable this option in the extension.
I will ask them.

Have a good day.

I'm not sure what you expect but you should certainly not disable this feature.

Hootsuite (and probably Zoho Social) will never try to use the short URL automatically. If you want to share alink on twitter, directly or using Hootsuite, you have to share the shURL. They will never try to find the shURL themselves from the full page. That's not what shURL are for and this is not how they are used.

We also use Hootsuite, and we simply always share the shURL on our site.

Thanks, may you explain me how is the procesure you use to post in Hootsuite?
You have to go to the sh404sef component, search the url of the article and copy the shURL, and after that you insert this shURL in Hootsuite?

Hi

Yes. The shURL is an alternative URL that you use in lieu of the full URL when appropriate. It's just another link that will redirect to the full page.

You can also look at the page source code on the frontend and see something like this:

<link href="https://weeblr.com/kk" rel="shortlink" />

This will give you the shURL of the page you are looking at (https://weeblr.com/kk is the short URL for https://weeblr.com/joomla-seo-analytics-security/sh404sef).

Yes I understand, but I am trying to find a fastest way to post in social networks with our shURLs. I would like to avoid the step to check the component or the source code.

Just one more question:
I'm not sure what you expect but you should certainly not disable this feature.

I have disabled the rel="shortlink" tag (to solve the issue with SEO Power Suite, not the shURLs as well. Is it ok?

Hi

I have disabled the rel="shortlink" tag (to solve the issue with SEO Power Suite, not the shURLs as well. Is it ok?
Yes. I thought you disabled shURL altogether!

I would like to avoid the step to check the component or the source code.
There are 2 ways to handle this for me:

1 - You can display the actual shURL of a page anywhere on your site. See documentation here. Maybe you can include this tag inside of a module displayed only to logged in users? Or just display it in small size at the very bottom of each page.

2 - Personally, I use a Chrome Extension called META SEO Inspector. On each page I visit, I can click that icon and see all the details of the page, including the shURL:

I am not aware of such extension for other browsers but I suspect there are.
