Hello again! This is a quick question. Do you recommend to exclude any folder or files from a regular Akeeba Backup backup process? I mean, cache folders for example. Something that may be recreated automatically after recovering the backup in case it is necessary. Some extensions have cache folders with in the main component folder or plugin folder and not the main cache folder from Joomla! Thanks!

Hi

That does not really matters to be honest: you can back them up. If you do not, they will be created again when needed.
Actually, this caching feature is now disabled by default in sh404SEF (and might be removed in the future).

Oh OK. But where is the cache folder located? I was thinking to reduce the size of  the backup to save some space in the server, that's why I'm asking. Thanks.

Hi

They are are /components/com_sh404Ssef/cache. They are outside of the standard cachec folder to be removed from any "cache cleaning" 3rd party extension or similar operations.
Note that those files should be fairly small, as the number of URLs stored is small (10,000 by default, which is not supposed to be increased really). So once zipped in the backup file, you should only save a few kilobytes.

Lastly and again, disk caching is disabled by default, so unless you enabled it, you simply have no cache file in your sh404SEF setup.

Thanks. Yes I activated it because it said that that will improve the page load time significantly so I supposed that it was good to activate it. 🤔

Hi

Sure thing ;) But that's a bit of a thing from the past. On most sites using modern servers, the difference should be pretty small.
