 Hi guys,

so I did some reorganization of my URLs and added the old URLs in the aliases.

I had the impression that by doing this, any content which was pointing to the old URL would get automatically updated to link to the new URL.

Is this not the case? Would I have to switch every new URL manually within the content?

Hi

Depends on what you call reorganization. An alias is automatically added when you manually customize a URL. So if you customize the URL, in the URL manager, for /my-old-page to /my-new-page, then a 301 redirect will happen from /my-old-page to /my-new-page.

Is this not the case? Would I have to switch every new URL manually within the content?
Assuming you mean that you manually customized some URLs, yes the new URLs will be used instead IF you properly created your links in your content. If you hardcoded href="/my-old-page" in your articles, then Joomla will not see that and will not pass that to sh404SEF for rewriting.
If you linked using the internal Joomla URL (href="/joomla-seo-analytics-security/seo-oriented-urls"), as JCE will do for you, for instance, then Joomla will see those links as internal links that needs rewriting and replace them with the SEF equivalent. If the SEF equivalent has been updated in sh404SEF, then the new URL will be used.
