 Hi,

I have all Recording options turned on through configuration.

I run SEMRush to test the new aliases I have set up (tried both canonical and 301 redirects).
SEMRush indicates duplicate content for 4 items:

xxxx.com/sample-content/page-2?filter_tag[0]=
xxxx.com/sample-content
xxxx.com/sample-content/page-2
http://xxxx.com/sample-content/donec-nunc-magna-posuere

I have set these urls up as aliases through sh404SEF but they are still found with duplicate content when I crawl xxxx.com

I have setup super-user: xxxx pwd: xxxx

Wondering what I am either doing incorrectly or not doing?

Thanks for your help.

Hi

I have all Recording options turned on through configuration.
You should not. The "Record URLs source" is a debug feature, and it stores very large volume of information. you should disable it right away. The others stores much less information and can be left enabled in production.

I run SEMRush to test the new aliases I have set up (tried both canonical and 301 redirects).
Testing this aliases is done in your browser, not in SEMRush. What SEMRush does is not relevant to us really.

I have set these urls up as aliases through sh404SEF but
What have you done exactly? For instance, if I visit http://xxxx.com/sample-content/donec-nunc-magna-posuere, I am not redirected to another page, so it seems you have not created any alias for it. So what have you done exactly for this URL?

Hi,

I've included a screenshot of one of the alias records I created (301 redirect - although canonical link got the same result).

When I paste http://xxxx.com/sample-content/page-2?filter_tag[0]= into my browser I expect to go to http://xxxx.com/sample-content/

but this doesn't happen.

What do you think is wrong?

Also, as per your recommendation, I've turned recordi URL's off.

I know this takes space in the database, but I am debugging.

Hi

The alias is not correct indeed.

1 - You should not include the domain for aliases, as aliases are always on your own site
2 - If you have a query variable (ie ?filter_tag[0]=), this query var is going to be appended back to the target URL, as in:

sample-content/page-2?filter_tag[0]= will go to http://xxxx.com/sample-content/?filter_tag[0]=

3 - So I would suggest you use a wildcard as in:

Alias: sample-content/page-2{*}
Target URL: /sample-content/
