Hi, are there any issues updating straight from from version 4.4.6.2271 of sh404sef to the v 4.8.1.3465 (or later)

Is an intermediate version required? The control panel suggests v 4.7.3.3292?

I know we have left it far too long but want to bring ourselves fully up to date and make full use of Weeblr.

Joomla is uptodate via Siteground. We want to install the latest version of sh404sef, then update K2 from v2.6.9. to v2.7.1

thanks

Hi

This would indicate that you are using Joomla 2.5 (as 4.7.3) is the last version for Joomla 2.5, which we stopped to support entirely a year ago.
If you're still on Joomla 2.5, then 4.7.3 is the latest you can get. It would be a required step before you update to Joomla 3.6.5. Updating to J! 3.6.5 is now an absolute requirement for you, as there i a known and unpatched vulnerability in Joomla 2.5 (Joomla stopped supporting 2.5 more than 2 years ago).

If you are already on J! 3.x, then I would still suggest you follow the prompt and update to the 4.7.3. This will then let you update to a higher version.
Updating from such an old version, I would definitely suggest you do this first on a test copy of your site, or at the very least have a full backup and be ready to restore it in case something breaks in the process.

As you use Siteground, I would assume you are running a properly set server, so that part should be fine.

tks, really appreciate this. We are in fact building a new version of the website on a test copy already in J! 3.6.5 which also prompts for the update to 4.7.3. but it also says to 'Check again - new version available' (screenshot attached)'. In any case we'll follow the prompt to update to 4.7.3.3292 after making another full and local back up. Siteground also make daily backups for us. All being well I will confirm the success of the sh404sef update to the very latest version shortly.

Hi

What version is available depends on the current version you are using, not so much the Joomla version (though of course both are related).

I'll leave this ticket open for now, it will be closed automatically in 2 weeks if no further comment is added.

Doing the updating now. But just noticed our installed sh404sef Access and Secret Keys are those dating from the time of Anything Digital and not those generated in by new Weeblr subscription. We'll update the prompt without changing anything for now and see what happens.

Hi, unfortunately nothing is happening. Replaced the old keys with the new keys and both times get thrown straight to the Joomla Extensions: Update page. SH404self is fully activated in the Extensions Manager (see screenshot). Maybe the solution is to manually update with version 4.7.3.3292 (which I dont have) or uninstall and load latest version? Looking forward to your advice. tks Philip

Hi

Yes, you can always update manually. If you are on J! 3.6.5, that's what you'll need anyway.

uninstall and load latest version
Just update over, don't uninstall. Though we do save and restore your settings and data even across uninstall/install back, there is no need for this trouble. Just upload the latest zip.

Hi

Euh yes, this is the proper thing to do. Once again, I cannot guarantee anything, but as you are operating on a non-public, developement site, there should not be any pressure here.
