 Hi,

I keep getting this error message on my site every few weeks and I usually ask for backup to be restored:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /var/sites/c/xxxx.com/public_html/components/com_sh404sef/cache/shCacheContent.3d8c6db3293b5a53cb08701859cd1ffd.php on line 34

I bought your product many years ago and I am stuck.

1) I cannot take it off because it destroys my site
2) It hinders updates and gives all sorts of errors.
3) Joomla and everything is now upto date.

Can you help with this error message and what it means?

Thanks

Hi

1 - This happens when the server cannot cope with the speed of writing required for URL disk caching. The fix is simple: disable URL caching, the first setting under the "Advanced" tab.

2 -
It hinders updates and gives all sorts of errors.
What in the world do you mean???

Done.

Does this have any performance hits?

Thanks

Hi

Not really, it's an old feature, it's actually Off by default now, on new installs. Note that you are using it on disk, using Memcache or APc to store data is much more reliable (though requires more server setup).

Again, not sure what you mean by "hinder updates" and "gives all sort of errors". sh404SEF is an extremely reliable piece of software, used by many tens of thousands of Joomla sites around the world. You have to keep it fully up to date just like any other extensions on your site.
