 Hi,

Trying to install latest version com_sh404sef_4.8.1.3465_j3_full.zip and am getting this error message:

Error
There was an error uploading this file to the server.
Maximum PHP file upload size is too small: This is set in php.ini in both upload_max_filesize and post_max_size settings of your PHP settings (located in php.ini and/or .htaccess file).
Unable to find install package

Never had a problem installing updates before. Please advise. Thanks!

Hi

As explained in the message, you server is not capable of accepting uploads of more than (probably) 2MB (since the last 2-3 versions, sh404SEF is now a bit larger than that). This message comes from Joomla when it detects this condition.

It's a PHP setting, fairly easy to change for you hosting company or the administrator managing your server.

Another option, much easier actually, is to simply use the Joomla one-click updater. Extensions are updated at the press of a button, you don't have anything to download and install, and this will bypass your current server upload size limitation, as the file is actully not uploaded from your computer.

One-click updater has been built into Joomla for multiple years now, it will prompte you when an update is available, that's most certainly is the best way to go.

Thanks for the info.

Here's the response I receive when I do the one click updater which is why I've always downloaded the zip file and installed an update:
Error
COM_SH404SEF_UPDATE_NO_CREDENTIALS

I will contact my web hosting company to see about the PHP setting. Thanks!

Hi

This error is normal and expected (though error code being displayed instead of a normal error message is not, but I believe it has been fixed since then) if you didn't enter your access
credentials, as fully described on the documentation, on this page.
