On the 404 request page I always have the index.php, index.html and several .html pages.
I don't expect these to appear. Also if I select them I don't get a 404 error, even not if selected from a remote computer.
I tried to add the html suffix (bothe Joomla & sh404sef), but that does not have any influence.
I use the standard Joomla .htaccess page. I also use most default settings in sh404sef.

Is this then a normal behaviour or is there someting else I need to change??

Hi

The most likely reason is that those where attempted attacks, where the URL was something like:

yoursite.com/index.php?xxxx=yyy&.....

When recording the 404, we do not record the query variables, so only the path (index.php, index.html) is shown.

The "various .html" pages are not an issues either, as long as they are NOT marked as Internal. Internal 404s are those that originate from your own site, so you need to fix them. Non internal are coming from others, and there is not much you can do about it. Expect to get many of them, some directed at wordpress or drupal sites for instance. Those are just from robots and don't matter.
