 Hi Yannick,

I have problems with the performance of my site. I asked Geraint from JEvents to have a look, because I have a lot of database entries with events from JEvents. Now he says sh404SEF could make the problems. He thinks its an issue with database table indexes not being optimal.

Is it possible to have a look to my site www.xxxx.de?
Of course:
- you get Joomla administration, FTP etc.
- if you need more time than for a normal support we can speak about the price of your support.

Thank you for your answer and your help.

Best regards
Jens.

Hi

Nope, that's not the problem, indexes are pretty good after all those years.
Indeed, we do need to have one record (at least) in the database per each SEF/non-SEF URLs on the site. With events extension, this might be an issue, because they can create thousands, tens of thousands of URLs (links to each day, to next/prev weeks, months, etc. As search engines crawls and follow all those links, they will cause links for each and an everyday in the future and the past as long as they keep crawling the site.

This can end up making the DB huge, and possibly slow it down very much.

If this happens to you, maybe it's best to exclude JEvents from processing by sh404SEF. Go to the By components tab of sh404SEF configuration, and select "Use Joomla router" for Jevents (in the first drop down list).
