    Hi,

JomSocial will probably not work very well on AMP, it uses JavaScript for most of its content, including video, and that is not compatible with AMP. I think even the Photos pages won't work.

To be honest, Social network extensions such as JomSocial don't seem to be a good fit for AMP.

Just sent you my website link in a pvt ticket for reference.

What im looking for is just simple AMP pages for jomsocial "Video" section only. Lets say we use amp-video, or amp-youtube and add a little video markup, only for the video pages, no other jomsocial page.

    Hi

You can do everything if you provide the JomSocial template overrides that will output the correct, no-javascript content.

would a copy of the single video page template do the job? is that going to be a separate AMP page, other than the standard jomsocial video page?

    Hi

An AMP page is created for the JomSocial pages you select (see documentation). The page is rendered by JomSocial and converted by wbAMP on the fly. During page rendering by JomSocial, the wbAMP template is selected. You can, therefore, provide any template override you want for JomSocial video page or other pages, so that the output is fine on AMP pages.

Note that I assume that JomSocial uses the standard Joomla template override mechanism, which is likely.

    Awesome!
So this way almost any extension can be converted to AMP! that's totally cool, i had been thinking we are bound to use the template Weeblr had provided. Thanks

    Hi

Yes, absolutely. As long as one writes the required code in template overrides, if the original extension output cannot work well on AMP.

i had been thinking we are bound to use the template Weeblr had provided
It's a template, so it can be customized, copied, etc. You can change absolutely anything on the AMP page output. See documentation on this page.

The jomsocial video pages are created dynamically, by user uploads, but im sure you will have a solution for it,

    Hi

Hmm, so are each and every page in Joomla. They are all dynamic. Also one important note, just to clarify: we do not offer any installation or customization service, so we can't really help you on writing those templates overrides. It's actually more a feature that JomSocial may want to offer, if they are interested in providing AMP support.

I can write the template files myself, AMP validate them and give you, It will be jomsocial php file for standalone video page only, just one template file along with the menu outputting everything in valid amp html format. is that what you need?

    Hi

Hmm, again, there seems to be a confusion here. You can certainly write your template overrides, and use them on your site. We do not need anything and are not involved in that process. This is entirely something done by you, on your site. We will not integrate any JomSocial support inside wbAMP, that's just something you can do yourself as part of the customization of your site, if you wish to have AMP pages for JomSocial.

Actually, if you wish to contribute this, it would probably be the JomSocial folks you need to talk to I think. They are the ones who may have an interest in providing AMP-compatible layouts in their output.
