Hi.

We want to retain item id or force it to be used if the non-SEF URL does not have it. We have an issue where a large number of non-SEF URL's (primarily articles) where the Item id was not added causing issues with modules and templates.

Is this with Joomla SEF?

sh404SEF has features to force an Itemid per component for instance, and then you can always make custom URLs, specifying the Itemid you want in the non-sef URL - altough that may not be practical on a large number of items, depending on how large "large" is.

A last option is to write a few lines of PHP and force the Itemid you want depending on the article id, or category or whatever element the Itemid choice should be made.
